If you're under 25, you know SEO like someone over 45 knows TV. SEO is simple for the young and continues to escape the older generation - at their peril. SEO is easy to understand. It makes the pages of your site visible to Search Engines. And in this world, it is GOOGLE and then no one else - not everyone else. Over 70% of all searches now originate at GOOGLE. Yahoo sits at the brink of financial ruin. MSN is still trying to convince the world that the they are a media company in addition to being a software company. The process of making your site visible to GOOGLE is something that takes monthly tweaking but for the most part is an inexpensive proposition. But SEO without SEM or NLIM is like paying for half the trip to Europe then being surprised when they put you off the ship in Greenland.
